We feel even more chilled out now if that is possible. Have spent 3 days just relaxing by the pool followed by sunset walks along the beach and there is certainly plenty of beach here.
Of course we had to keep up with the local history and went on a tour of the Pearl Luggers museum - only a small place but very informative and interesting. They still have the last two pearl lugger boats on show. The mother of pearl industry was set up here in 1880's and what an inhumane industry. The Brits were busy sending prisoners here for stealing a loaf of bread and the British gentry who landed here were capturing aboriginal people (men, women and children) and forcing them to dive for shells. Thousands died and when they ran out of them they got the Japanese involved. Will never look at a mother of pearl button in the same light!! Today it is a thriving cultured pearl industry, the best pearls in the world so they tell us.
Unfortunately, we have to leave it all behind tomorrow and continue with our journey so will be in touch.
