Although we arrived in Auckland in the dark we have to say first impressions were not good.

We had a very nasty check in agent in Brisbane (first so far) and don't think he was ozzy. When we arrived in Auckland nobody was exactly warming - it was like going into the USA about 30 years ago at least they have mellowed over the years. We had to unpack our bags so they could look at our hiking boots (now do we look like we are serious hikers?!!) and wanted to know if we had hiking poles anywhere!! It could be said they were just doing there job but we are not looking forward to doing it all over again when we leave Fiji. Fortunately we are storing most of our baggage in Auckland as only in Fiji for 4 days and certainly won't be hiking in Fiji.

Perhaps they were all knackered like we were and everything seems worse so will give them the benefit of the doubt and hopefully N.Z. will be as brilliant as everything else has been so far - will keep you posted.
