With the sun making another guest appearance, it was a pleasant journey towards the Western Bay of Plenty.
It is certainly 'kiwi growing' country (the fruit that is); miles and miles of kiwi orchards with the town of Te Puke being the 'Kiwifruit' capital. The brown furry friend is worth $2 billion a year to the Bay's economy - must be someone else out there eating them besides me!!
Tauranga is one of NZ's fastest growing cities and situated on a bay is used for exporting all the local produce. For us it was an excellent place to stop and watch the world go by at one of the many waterfront cafes. Two flat whites and whatever cake or pastry took our fancy was the order of the day.
Should be in the Bay of Islands tomorrow so will catch up in a couple of days.
