We have arrived back at the smelly place!
On the way into the town we stopped at the zorb and put on very sexy outfits before being driven to the top of a hill and diving into a huge rubber ball filled with warm water and proceeding to roll down the hill inside it!! It doesn't sound like much but it was the best laugh! So much so we did it again! Picture being inside a giant washing machine! Brilliant!
We got to town around lunch time and after checking into the same place we stayed at when the girls were over we headed off to investigate the town and do a spot of shopping.
At 3pm we went back to the Geyser park which we had visited with the girls only this time with a guide who explained a lot of the Maori symbols and carvings to us as we wandered through the arts and crafts institute before going to see the beasty geyser in the picture above erupting! We had to wait on it a little while so we took up position on a big concrete step which was hot because of the lava flow under the park. We didn't want to move! Warmth is good!!!
Yesterday we were challenged to a game of mini golf by Chris and Rob, the Southampton boys! Despite Rob's claims of golf stardom, he lost! ha ha ha!!! After that more shopping was called for before the best thing ever...home made lasagne, in an oven!!! An oven, you've no idea how rare they have been! Following that it was off to a pyjama party for a little bit of dancing.
This morning was amazing. White water rafting was the plan! We managed to get the 6 of us that had made friends over the last few days in the same boat which in some ways was a bad thing. Especially for poor Rob! The river we wanted to go on was closed due to flooding so we were taken to another which started with a few Grade 5 rapids which were amazing! Despite the bashed knuckles on the rocks at the side we were all hooked and plan on doing a full grade 5 river in a few days time! The rest of the river was grade 4 and as our guide was a bit of a nut he kept driving us into trees and things which is when things went wrong for young Rob!
There we were paddling away as the guide shouted instructions at us, when mid back-paddle we headed for a tree, our guide shouted "get down" which we all did apart from Steve who kept back paddling! In slow motion his paddle hit Rob in the chest and out of the boat he went, backwards! He grabbed Jen's paddle to try and keep himself in the boat but ended up taking it with him cause she was laughing too much to hold on! The look on his face was priceless! If only we'd had a camera! It still makes me roar now!
At the end of the rafting trip we were treated to fish and chips, Jen's favourite!!!!! Then it was time to go home to warm up by spending the evening with some homemade sweet and sour courtesy of Rob topped of by spending the rest of the evening in a 41 degree C Polynesian spa pool over looking Rotorua lake in the pissing rain, we could have stayed there forever!
Tomorrow we move on to Waitomo to do bog all as we did it all when the girls were over!
