Today we left Westport for Mahinapua to go to a random little pub that Kiwi Experience stop at for the excuse to have a party!

We got on our bus nice and early as usual and started our drive down to the pub stopping at a really nice little place on the coast to see the pancake rocks and some blow holes. We stopped for an hour or so to walk around and take in the view and then after having a hot chocolate it was time to head off again to Greymouth to stock up on food for Franz Josef and to buy some gear for the fancy dress party!

The theme was M and F, a little bit harder than the previous groups theme of bin bags! After grabbing a few things we needed we headed for the toy shop! It was there that the fun started!

We got our outfits and headed off to the pub which we got to nice and early and after being greeted by the lunatic les that owns it we had plenty of time for a walk to the lake across the road which was pretty amazing as it was a really clear day and the water was so still we could see the mountains covered in snow reflecting on it. After our walk to the lake we ended up on some random muddy track which seemed to go on for ages and we really couldn't tell what direction we were heading in because of the trees but eventually we made it to the road! Next stop was the beach and although it was a little cold for a swim it was still nice to be by a beach!

After walking around it was tea time. Les and our driver Bods had cooked up a storm of steak, spuds, pasta and veg all for $10 so we stuffed ourselves stupid and then went to get dressed for the fancy dress "party". David got himself into his fairy wings and wand and I got into my foam six pack and some of his clothes and after adding a little bit of glittery make up to his little rosy cheeks and a nice mascara beard to me off we went!

We had a few drinks and few games of pool and the night ended fairly uneventfully! It wasn't quite a party to the standard of what we're used to but it was quite funny to see everyone in there outfits as we had a fire extinguisher and all sorts!

Tomorrow we head for Franz Josef which will be another one of the highlights of New Zealand as we're going to hike up a glacier!
