Today was my last day in London, and while I'm sad to be leaving, I feel that I've seen a lot of the city and I'm ready to see something new. The first thing we did was return to the Victoria and Albert Museum and wander around looking at all the ancient statues, tapestries, stained glass and other antiquities. We took a brief trip next door to the Science Museum but it was swarmed with school kids so we returned to the Victoria and Albert Museum for a traditional afternoon tea in their cafe, which consists of a pot of tea and scones with jam and clotted cream. We happened to sit next to a lady from California who comes to the UK every summer with the college she works with to study ancient wells! She strongly recommended going to the Imperial War Museum so we made that our next stop. They had some incredible exhibits about both World Wars, including a replica of a trench from World War I and a simulation of an air raid on Britain. The Holocaust exhibit struck me the most, showcasing a horrific part of human history. Even after leaving the museum, I still felt in shock. It was raining heavily outside (every other day has been so sunny and beautiful!) so we caught one of the double-decker buses and rode around for awhile before we spotted a pub and went in for fish and chips to finish off the day. I don't know how good the internet access will be in Bath, so there might be a brief break in my blogging but I'll definitely be uploading photos and entries as soon as I can! We have to catch a bus early for Bath, so it's time for bed. Goodnight!
