Hi everyone! Sorry for the delay, internet was harder to find here. But we made it to Bath! It was only a 3 hour bus ride from London and we got to drive through some beautiful English countryside. Upon arriving, we discovered that today was Party in the Street, the biggest free festival in Bath, and the beginning of the Bath International Music Festival! After checking into our hostel, the Bath YMCA, we headed to the Bath Abbey. While certainly not the scale of Westminster, the church was gorgeous. The festival started with a procession of children from local schools through the abbey and a choir performance. From there, we headed to a nearby park on the river where a great blues/jazz band was playing. We munched on some pastries from a bakery we found and then walked along the river where we stumbled upon a big pavilion in the center of a rugby field. It reminded me of the circus scene from Across the Universe! People were pouring in from all over and we squeezed our way into the packed pavilion where a ska band called RSVP was playing. Everyone was jumping around and dancing and drinking beer so we joined in until they stopped playing then continued our walk down the river and found another music venue where we listened to a great rock band called The Risk. We headed back to our hostel to grab coats but when we came back for the headlining act, the place was packed and there was a line down the street to get in so instead we headed to a bar and listened to a concert there. What a great day to show up in Bath! Everywhere we went you could hear different bands playing and of all different genres, so there really was something for everyone. There was even a firework show! All in all, it just might be my favorite day in Europe yet!
