MB is off to scuba dive and after the last two organizational disasters has his fingers crossed. He books in to do two dives but is surprised when they tell him he will be gone all day.
Meanwhile Marcus and Nora arrive. During the day Nora, Janet and the boys visit the town Bazaar. The girls head to the beauty parlor after lunch, the boys souvenir shop and Marcus just enjoys being on Black Pearl.
Marmaris was destroyed completely in 1957 by a massive earthquake so it is a fairly new city being low rise spread out along the waterfront. There are lots of charter boats and Gulets that start or finish here so there are many vessels coming and going.
MB returns to describe his two 45 minuet (18 meter ) dives could have been completed in a few hours but it is a picnic tour that lasted all day, thank goodness he had a book, because only the captain spoke English.
The first dive he saw a few fish including grouper, tuna, jack fish and various small fish in large numbers. The second dive one fish (Snapper), one octopus, a cave and lots of rocks. The captain explains that the fish stocks has severely declined over the last ten years.
That night our agent 'Milis Giraud' has invited us to a beach party for her kite surfing school. Although we are dubious it was fun to meet a lot of local people and the boys meet and chat to some nice young girls.
We go to with dinner with Milis at a great local restaurant on a beautiful river where only locals go. The food is great. Milis' friend D, a lawyer from Izmir, is having her birthday. We celebrate with lots of fun and drinks.
Back in Marmaris about 1 am we visit 'Bar Street'. This is a wild place with clubs and bars pumping out loud music throngs of young people walking up and down, lots of booze and dancing. This the wildest night life we have seen anywhere so far. The girls at the beach party tell Paris and Ford it is like that every night.
A great time was had by all.
