We want to break the long voyage from Mykonos to Athens. Half way is the island of 'Kythnos', so we decide to head there. This is the second last Cycladic island heading north. The next island to this is Kea where we had stopped on our voyage to Turkey. This island is usually only visited by Greeks, so it's quiet and undeveloped compared with others in the Cyclades. We decided we did not need to visit anymore Greek Island townships, as by now they are all starting to feel much the same.
We found a wilderness anchorage with the first real white sandy beach. As we are unable to sit still, we debate activities and decide on a triathlon of beach volleyball, bocci and coits. The problem is we could not find the volleyball. The solution, MB and Niels go by tender to the next bay where there is a small Harbour side town. It is a very sleepy little town but they manage to find a small plastic ball in a small supermarket.
Back on the beach, the bocci tournament finishes with Ian Hickey the winner. For the beach volley ball we split up in two teams, 'The Margaritas' and 'The Gin and Tonic's'. Three hard fought games with some controversy, including JB getting thigh corked by Jack, and some rule disputes. The G and T's consist of MB, Ian, Amanda and Janine, who thrash the Margarita's. Finally, the coits competition with cocktails as the sun starts to go down. The coits are hotly contended and won by MB. Afterwards, we were all hot and exhausted.
We have our last dinner onboard with a beautiful sunset in this wonderful anchorage.
