We have mass at St. Peter's in Ubli, followed by a nice walk back to the boat, before we head off to lunch at an island that we have named 'goat Island', (Susac). We thought we were going to a nice restaurant that specialized in cooking goat. However, we are told there is no goat and only lamb available cooked over a charcoal fire.
We arrive at a very barren island 'Susac', where 'Goran' and his 14 year old son 'Leo', live alone in fairly primative accommodation on the island. Goran has lived here for 30 years, and his father before him. They run 200 sheep on the island and we can't help thinking the whole area looks like a hillbilly camp.
However, Goran cooks a fabulous whole lamb on a spit for us. Then, with a cleaver chops it up into a pot which we take to our picnic table which is clean and shaded. We have to bring our own salads and drinks. So under the shade of the one large olive tree we have our succulent BBQ lunch, washed down with french red and white wine.
After lunch, we snorkel in crystal clear light blue water off the island.
We then head back to the western end of the island of Korcula. We walk into the town of 'Vela Luka'. Garnaut has to have his favorite Croatian beer 'Ozujska' and his usual afternoon pizza.
We have a light dinner and finish our ongoing canasta match. MB's team makes a couple of simple blues to be well beaten by Bernie, Alison and JB.
