The island of 'Miljet' is only and hour and a half cruise from Dubrovnik. The island is 35kms long and 3kms wide. It is a national park with lots of small wooded islands and channels in the north west corner. We pass the 80 metre yacht 'Athena' that was parked next to us in Aukland for the BP christening. We anchor near the small town of 'Polace'.
Everybody has to pay a per head fee to stay here, but you get a fee bus and boat road to the monastery island which we take in the afternoon. There are scattered Roman ruins and the monastery is 14th century. We walk back to Polace through beautiful forests.
Captain Paul gives us some bad news. The hydraulic line that effects the steering has cone adrift, which means we cannot move until it is fixed. There is not much he can do until he has spoken to N.Z. later in the night.
We continue an aggressive 6 hand canasta game. It is very tense with the lead changing dramatically, but lots of fun. We await the findings on the hydraulic situation tomorrow.
