We realised after spending quite a bit of moolah in Q'town that we needed to start heading back up north. And after finding out our bus didnt do stops we needed to go up the west coast (we'll save for another trip), we had to do exactly the same journey back up to Picton.
So we left Q'town very early to catch the bus to Christchurch, which took a good 8 hours, and when we arrived we were shattered! Stayed in a massive hostel, not great but we hardly spent much time there as we were off again in the morning to Picton.
Next morning the bus journey was not as bad as the previous day, so we arrived in Picton with a day to do stuff! We trekked about a mile to the hostel, which was not to Kirsty's liking but it was definitely worth it for the hostel!!
Jugglers Rest, one of the smallest hostels in New Zealand, was prbably one of the nicest hostels we've stayed at. Although we camped in the garden we had acess to the whole house! It had shady decks, comfy chairs, bean bags, hammocks and a sunny chill-out area in an organic garden, free tea/coffee, fruit and homemade bread and jam every morning!! We could have stayed there for a lot longer.
In the evening after being treated to an African chicken dish by a random Canadian guy we all went outside to watch the owner do a fire poi show! We then got to try it out ourselves, obviously without the fire, which was pretty fun!
Although only staying here one night it seemed like we were there a lot longer.
We caught the ferry in the morning to Wellington and were kept amused by 4 drunk kiwi guys going to see AC/DC in concert.
As we arrived the sun had decided to come out and it was baking and I think for both of us it was really nice to be back in Wellington.
