mysore is a very nice city on a plateau, and has a truely fabulous palace, built in the early 1900's after the orginal wooden one burnt down at a wedding march. unfortunately it's not permitted to take photos of the most over the top interior decor that i think i have ever seen, but i will treasure the memories of torquiose iron pillars, 85 kilograms of gold leave and a rennie macintosh inspired peacock studded stained glass ceiling for ever. it's a hard look to carry off in a one bedroom flat the kilburn end of maida vale....
