Today we braved the road down from Mount Cook towards Queenstown. The Mount Cook road was only covered in snow for 10 km's and then it became very easy driving - Jacqui was happy. But then we saw how much snow had dropped everywhere and realised we would need to drive slowly and head for Wanaka. We arrived in Wanaka - which is a ski gateway to the Treble Cone and Cardrona - unfortunately both where not open so we couldn't go skiing We can alway try somewhere...

Well another day in Mount Cook - the snow is still here but at least it has stopped falling. Neen decided to go for a two hour walk out to Kea Point - it only took him 5 hours and he never quite made it to the point. The snow was up to his chest. Jacqui was very happy she did not go along she would of been under the snow!!!! As a reward for all his hard work we headed off to the posh Hermitage hotel for slap up three course meal - mmmmm!! On the 21st we headed off to Mount Cook - the weather is pretty cold Brrrrrrr. We stocked up on supplies. The drive over was interesting - we drove through a few snowy scenes with icy trees - very pretty. The Lake at Pukaki was fantastic - then the drive got a bit bad as the snow started to come down. We don't have the biggest car so there was a bit of sliding and lots of going very slow. We are staying in a YHA which is everso warm and cosy.  We venture...

On the 20th we decided to head off to explore the rest of South Island and leave Uncle Paul to sort himself out for his trip to Vietnam and then on to South Africa to meet up with Jacqui's Mum and Dad for a trip to Namibia. On the 16th the new owner of our accomodation, Steph took us up the hill to get another great view over the sounds. Then we headed off into town and checked in for our Tranz Scenic Railway trip from Picton to Christchurch. Waht a trip for 100km the train was right next to the pacific ocean - where we saw some seals and then going through mountains. It was really enjoyable.
