On the 2nd we got up early ish but the weather was still foggy so we went for a short walk to view the Fox Glacier but due to the rain we couldn't got all the way to the face. Jacqui has never seen a glacier before so she was impressed. We then drove 30km's to Franz Joseph and checked in to the Rainforest Retreat which was lovely We then headed off to the village and tried to get on a Heli Hike - basically they take you up in the helicopter and you get two hours guided hike on top of the glacier. Unfortunately the weather stopped us so we went for a walk we got very close the the terminal face of the glacier but the river was raging so we didn't go all the way. The glacier is spectacular - very icy blue.
