Hello!
First blog I'm doing using my phone, seems pretty good means I can do it around australia quite easily.
So Monday I went to what I thought was as interview at 2 which was really just a preparation meeting, the actual interview was tuesday at 9. Unfortunately I didnt get the job :(
Wednesday I got woken up by a phonecall from the company who didnt give me the job the day before, they were asking if I was interested in having an interview the next morning for the call centre version of the other job! I said yes and had that interview this morning
Still on tuesday though... We went to a FREE art museum with the Scottish girls next to circular quay which was quite odd... One piece of 'art' included a video called 'an hour of laughing' which was literally what it sounds like; 4 women dressed as dwarves stood there laughing for an hour... Me and Will found it hilarious!!
We then went to a Aboriginals museum at The Rocks which was pretty terrible!
Good news for Will as he found out he Had got the fundraising job!! Looks like we might be staying :):)
We went over to Alex's house to have some drinks with him and his housemates which was pretty nice, they invited us around for a homemade curry next week!
Had a quiet night in as we had to wake up early for my interview and wills training. Got a text from Rachael (the American girl) saying that she has given my number to the Aquarium and put in a really good word for me as she is leaving her job there sometime soon, i might be the person who takes your picture next to a green screen as soon as you walk in!
Went to the interview at 10 o clock where there were 20 people!
We were first asked to introduce ourself, say something interesting about ourself, if we could be anyone in the world for a day who would it be and if you could create any charity what would it raise money for. My answers were that i get told i look like Prince Harry a lot (i panicked), Stephen Fry just so i could have his knowledge for a day and a Killer Whale protection charity because they are incredible creatures.
We were then given an activity to do where there was a plane that was crashing and there were only 3 lifejackets and we had to say why we should get one... I had 'Miss Universe 1970'. I argued it pretty well saying that since winning i have become a person that helps the world in many ways etc etc. We were then asked who we think should survive out of all of us and (I think this is what got me through) I said to everyone "Have you ever seen Life of Pi? He uses a bunch of lifejackets, ties them to parts of a boat and makes a raft. If it was up to me that is what I'd do so that everyone can survive" and the woman taking the group interview seemed very impressed!
Next we were given a practice phonecall where we were trying to get someone to donate for Make a Wish Foundation. Everyone was very nervous, we were taken into a room one by one and rang the receptionist who was marking us on our tone and how quickly and kindly we said certain things over the phone. I thought i did quite well.
After a while the woman (Charlie) came back in and said that she was going to evaluate our feedback with us two at a time. She took two of the people out and then another 2 then another 2 until there were 8 of us left all very worried and thinking the worst. Charlie then came back in and said good news guys you've all got to the final assessment on Monday! Woooo
If we get through that then we will start on the Monday straight away!
$20.17 an hour 41 hours a week, after two weeeks training the wage goes up to $22.56... The aquarium wages are just as good but only 30 hours a week, it would definitely be a lot more fun working there but i don't know if, because of the difference, i would take the aquarium over the call centre.
Thats all for now, i'll update this early next week... Peace!
