We woke up around 10am Matt headed out to pick up a scooter and our laundry that we left for washing at Ameresa hotel (lizard house), Jacq started packing up.
Matt arrived back having been told by Ameresa we didn't give the key back in all our haste the night before and the washing was being held to ransom, fortunately the key was found and we rescued our shorts and pants from the clutches of the lizard people.
We loaded the scooter, and I mean loaded, with two rucksacks, a bag of washing and two day bags - plus our fat selves, Thai people tend to pack everything into their scooters even families of 5 hanging off the wing mirrors and back of the bike - only difference is Thai people weigh less!
We found the resort with ease, they were friendly and helpful, did try to charge us 2400 bhat instead of 2160, once again can't advise it enough folks be on your guard, luckily we had the confirmation email and showed them we get 10% discount through our hotel partner because of our genius account (awarded for regular bookers not Mensa members), she debated it but honoured it in the end.
We went to our room by cable car, the rooms are basically on a mountain and you can use the walkway but the painfully slow cable car was much more fun and the views were amazing!! The room was a corner room - we were delighted as all the reviews promised a corner room had the best view, and they were right! We could see as far as Koh Samui and the sea was stunning, the room was lovely too, much more modern in comparison to what we had become accustomed to recently- we even had a mini bar and air con!!
We headed out for lunch stopping at the Dolphin Moon cafe needing a break from Thai food we had chicken baguettes and chips, lovely at 100 bhat each (£2).
We headed back, got our swimming gear on and took the cable car to stop 6 to check out our pool - which was awesome!! It's an infinity pool overlooking the sea - stunning!! We sat and sunbathed and swam for a few hours before getting washed and changed heading towards the left of our hotel near Thongsala pier.
This is where we regret overloading the scooter earlier - as we drive through the town we get a flat - our hefty selves plus a load of luggage have caused a flat tyre on our first day of using this poor scooter - luckily it happens outside a scooter garage (couldn't make it up) and we manage to get it changed for 200 bhat (£4) thank god!!
We vow to never abuse the scooter again and head off finding a restaurant with a view of the sea as the sun sets - it's lovely and we share chicken fried rice and a Pengnan curry for 270 bhat. We head back stopping at a mini market grabbing cold lattes, orange juice and small bottles of vodka and gin, purely for sleep reasons.
When we get back we FaceTime Anna, Bridie and Tommy and spotting a few openings Matt blocks up any cracks unwelcome guests might decide to explore in our room- one lizard gets into the bathroom but he scampers when we open the door and Matt seals off his entrance. We are both a bit paranoid after last night's events, so put up the mosquito net tucking it under the mattress to make sure no unwelcomed guests venture in, so grateful we have it.
