We woke up at our Malibu beach park and the RV wouldn't start - after a quick jump start we made our way to Malibu vice colony drive where Tom hanks, Leo de cappuccino, Sting, Pam Anderson and Jason Statham live - typically it's a gated community and we can't drive through but as we drive away how stunning the views of the private houses facing the sea are.
We then move on to Encino - Matt's so excited the first stop is of course Dave Grohls at 4500 Gable Drive - we stop, stare and snap, Jacq makes super noodles whilst Matt dreams of Dave walking out and inviting him in for a beer - sadly he has to make do with Jacq & a beer but we try our hardest showing our stalker selves on Facebook with the hashtag #openthedoordave. We give up at sighting him after another 30 minutes and move on to check out the home of Ron Howard - it's a massive estate but heavily gated, so it's next onto Samuel L Jacksons - delighted to say we got a much better view here and Jacq even got a selfie of her and the house - no arrests were made.
Next stop is the Jackson family home where the kids of MJ now reside - once again understandably it's gated and hard to see so we head to Johnny Cash's last home - it's completely open and quite humble - a wooden styled bungalow fairly modest in size.
We're now off to check out the house of a favourite actor of ours Denzel Washington - he lives near Universal Studios and we get a good shot of his home, cars are parked outside so we make tracks towards Universal seeing the famed Warner Brothers water tank, Warner Music HQ and the Universal studios entrance (with a massive queue outside for Ellen). We'll definitely be back to LA so leave the tour as it's a bit pricey for now.
We then head for the Hollywood sign getting great views on route from the mountains and Matt decides to drive up close following the track to the sign - we get two thirds of the way up the hill, it's right in sight but the roads leading towards the sign are closed off and only available to residents for walks - there goes our dream of hanging out by the OOs'. Despite it we get great pics and see Johnny Depps castle on top of the hill facing the sign waving an English flag.
We move on to check out the Hollywood Boulevard and Walk of Fame - parking can be extortionate much easier to park on the curb and pay $2 an hour as there's plenty of rip off merchants trying to con you into $30 for a space in their lots. We patrolled the stars walk of fame snapping some favs and then found the Chinese Theatre famed for the stars handprints and big movie premieres - it's all so much smaller than we thought though - the streets are narrow and the handprint area is not as big as we imagined, it's great but like the stars home streets it's all narrow and windy and a bit cramped.
We head on to Hooters - Jacq has to drag poor Matt in and it's just as you'd imagine - full of... Well ... Hooters! Big boobs, big bums, shorts so tiny there's lots of chafage in view (seriously) and its happy hour!! Bargain $5 each on chicken is spent and we head back to the RV - next stop Cruise America depot near long beach - we need to sort the RV before Vegas; the brakes are grinding and nowhere near as responsive as they should be so we park up outside their depot for a night by the roaring traffic. Be worth it though.
