We drive back to West Cliff drive for sunrise around 5am it doesn't appear until 6.45am so Jacq makes coffee and egg sandwiches - when it does show up it's spectacular rising just over the pier.

We drive into town and park up to check out the famous boardwalk which was used in the movie "Lost Boys".

It's only $1.50 for an hours parking outside the entrance and it's pretty busy already.

We walk through the park full of amusements and rides, it houses the 5th oldest ride in the USA the Big Dipper - which was built here in 1907. It's a great park with water rides and a gorgeous carousel - at the end of the park we notice a little rusty old bridge - it's the one used in Lost Boys when they have that famous scene hanging under a bridge - we get a few snaps and walk back through the park to the car. We head off in search of another thrift store deciding to buy another quilt to put under us for extra comfort and search for a phone holder so Matt can see his GPS better - we found a GPS in Walmart yesterday, a Garmin but it's $100 and the RV place don't hire them out as they're apparently going out of date - eh!?

We find a thrift store in Marina - low and behold there's only a sat nav in the corner - a Garmin and it works! $12.99 folks!!! Matts over the moon and sets it up to stop at Monterey - the drive is amazing! So stunning! We really never knew how beautiful the coastal roads in California could be, they have the most luscious green mountains not unlike New Zealand and the shores are beautiful - big rocks and boulders sticking out of the bright blue sea. We drive windy roads hugging the hills and it's so steep Jacq gets a bit scared looking out her window she's literally looking out over cliff edges.

We love it and find a spot to park up for the night in Los Padres national forest on a hilltop overlooking the sea. It's free and a bit off the beaten track which is ideal - we aren't alone either and meet Michael who is parked next us from Malibu, Cathy and Ed who have a gazebo and trailer, they're from Boston and Reed who is a local.

We have a few drinks, good craic and Matt plays some tunes as we all sit in Ed and Caths gazebo around a firepit - it's a great night and feels like a proper RV experience.
