San Pedro is a little sleepy town but I loved it. It had a really chilled out feel to it. I liked to wander the dusty streets and sit in the plaza drinking coffee watching the people going by. The food was really nice here but expensive. The best deals were to get the set menus. These included a starter, main, dessert and a glass of wine. I tried out sand boarding for the first time from here. It was great. It was quite hard to get the hang of it and it was quite terrifying looking down a steep slope of sand with a board attached to you feet knowing you were going to have to get down to the bottom. The first fall was the hardest but when you realise the sand is really soft and not going to hurt you become more confident. So I did start to get faster and even managed on my last run to get all the way down without falling. In fact by the end of it the hardest bit was actually climbing back up the steep slope. After the sand boarding we went to the Valley of the Moon were we saw the sun set and the moon rise. It was pretty spectacular and to make it even more special an American proposed to his girlfriend and she said 'Yes'. It was very romantic as they had pictures taken with planet Venus in the background - it seemed very apt. I met Marianne on this trip. She was from Ireland and we soon realised we were going the same way. It seemed a good idea to hook up and we spent the evening comparing travel plans. It seemed like it could work so she set off to Salta and I agreed to follow.
