Today was the Australian open final which we watches murray get hammered in, whilst droning lots of tea, trying to tame my hangover.
Later that day we travelled to a different suburb in Durban to the Netal sharks board to see a shark dissection! Started with a short film about sharks in the area, and how the sharks board prevent attacks using shark nets off the Durban coastline. They actually catch the sharks and also use bated lines, effectively reducing the amount if shark attacks within Durban and surrounding areas. Catching everything from great whites to ragged tooth tiger sharks. A worrying fact was that 80% of the catches are swimming away from the beach, meaning they were already beachside of the nets!!!
Our specimen was a 2m tiger shark, which after emptying it's stomach revealed it's last meal was another shark! The smell did nothing for my fragile stomach.
On the way back we walked to a mall. This mall was massive, I have never seen anything like it, anything you wanted was there. Made the bullring look like a village Market! Many fancy restaurants around the outside of the mall, and after walking into a very posh Indian, we were offered bunny chow by the manager who has just put this on his menu for takeaway. Bunny chow is a traditional Durban dish which consists of half a fresh loaf of bread hollowed out, curry inside and the middle of the bread put back on top. The idea is to eat without knife or fork, I failed.
What seemed like an exhausting day bed couldn't come soon enough.
