Said bye to Fabiola as she was going to stay in port Alfred to visit a lion orphanage.
Quick over night stay in Port Elizabeth before an early start via the baz bus to J'Bay.
J'bay was overcast and actually cold when we arrived, which was a real blessing, since I hasn't had cold, or rain since coffee bay, and that mostly evaporated before it landed...
Jeffreys Bay is the surfing Capitol of South Africa. Surfers paradise with Bilabong and quicksilver factories, and the famous "super tubes" it's the place to be. Mike still couldn't walk far so we went for a light shopping spree and I brought a nice pair of board shorts, since my others are White and as a result constantly dirty.
Tom joined us that evening from Hogsback, turned out to be a disappointment, so I'm glad I stayed and relaxed by the sea.
Kitesurfing was on the agenda for the next day. I paid for 2 hours at a reasonable price. The instructor Brad picked me up from Island vibe backpackers and after a 30 min drive and 20 min walk over sand dunes we came to the river mouth which was as calm as a mill pond with a strong consistent 20knots of wind. New flexifoil 10m kite and nice free style board. He taught me how to launch the kite on my own, and also how to adjust the fine settings which I never usually tamper with. He perfected my starting position and by the end of the session I could tack into the wind and back to the same point and turn without going into the water. Got on well with Brad and as a result I was gone for 6 hours instead of 2 for no extra cost! Amazing!
Met some English lads who were on their "gap yeaaaar" and went to watch the rugby. England 60-16 Italy followed by some serious beers. Angry locals cornered mike and I, even got fish hooked by local drunken old afrikaans guy. Escorted out, having done nothing wrong. I reckon they don't like the English winning too many rugby games...
New favourite food verkoca, blonde Supprise.
