Hi all
After spending the last week at Port Smith (we could easily have spent longer, although we still have so much we wanted to see), we have got back on the road and headed a few lazy hundred kilometres down the road to Eighty Mile Beach.
The attraction of Eighty Mile Beach is not just a white, sandy beach (which just happens to go for eighty miles), but it is also famous for it's fishing as well as the volume, size and types of sea shells you can find.
Noting the boy's sea shell collection has not been added to for awhile, we booked ourselves in for a few days with the 'promise' of adding a few more shells to the collection.
The highlights of Eighty Mile in summary;
- although didn't knock off the entire eighty miles, we made a sizable dent with some massive beach walks.
- added a 'few' shells to the collection. There is probably a bag limit to adhere to the number of shells one can take, but luckily no one was policing as we would have been in a spot of bother.
- the caravan park is the town and the town is just a caravan park. Competition is naturally scarce and prices seem to be a bit over the top. ($9 for a bottle of cordial! ........ had to use my childhood experience and source some council cordial for the boys!)
Noting we had also run out of sugar (and with it costing $5.90), we decided to head down the road to Port Hedland, in search of a coffee.
