Today we woke late... Steven had woke me at about 3am as he was feeling feverish and needed water, he eventually settled shortly later but my sleep had been disturbed and I struggled to settle. When I woke he was already up and sitting on the veranda, I was feeling pretty lazy and lethargic so showered then joined him of a light breakfast of coffee and bananas.
He headed back to the room and I joined a short time later finding him curled up in bed.. I dried my hair and put some clothes on declaring I was off for a walk and he could join me of he felt up to it. He did and we took a slow walk through town. Steven was feeling tired but I thought the walk would do him some good after all the less you do the more tired you become. We found ourselves at a travel agency where we enquired about flights before continuing our walk. We found ourselves at the river front, we were going to get a drink but it was all abit touristy so we headed to the familiarity of 'jungle street' where we found a place serving tiger beer for nine thousand kip... Bargain. We sat down and ordered a beer to share and Steven ordered a baguette and boiled eggs ...which were actually beautifully boiled... Soft but not runny. We sipped a couple of beers and chatted before we face timed Dave for his birthday. We chatted for a while although the poor connection was a bit irritating so we let him be and finished our beer. We then walked home where Steven climbed into bed.
I was going slightly stir crazy so decided to head down to utopia for a beer and relax while waiting for Steven to wake. I headed down and ordered an overpriced beer before I evaded to the veranda over looking the river. There were a few people here chilling out and reading books so I found a quite corner where a comfortable sofa sat and sunk down. Here I spent the next couple f hours sipping my iced beer and reading a book, while listening to the gentle strumming of a guitar played nearby... this further added to the atmosphere with the sounds of the river flowing and crickets squeaking... It was a very relaxin afternoon.
Later I headed back and Steven was awake and waiting pizza, he had researched a place nearby that is meant to be amazing... It was just across the bamboo bridge. We freshened up and headed down where we found they charged you to cross... Ten thousand kip each (85p). This just annoyed us so we decided to give up and go somewhere else, this was proven to be impossible with everyone offering their food at stupid prices.. We settled on a baguette each from our fave lady and some rice cakes before we headed back to sit on the veranda. Steven was still feeling a bit sensitive so we decided on an early night and hopefully a good nights sleep for him.
