So, after spending a lengthy period in Luton airport we finally arrived in Barcelona. We spent the evening searching for our hostel (incorrect address on booking confirmation) but eventually arrived. The Black Swan Hostel was a brand new hostel which had only been open a couple of weeks. It was very shiny and pretty, and even had an induction cooktops! Pretty cool. It was missing some basics still, such as a kettle and a toaster, thus requiring us to cook our toast in the oven and our tea on the stove. It did make it more fun though. Fortunately the hostel was still enough of a secret that it was pretty quiet.
We took each day very much at our own pace, as we had six nights and plenty of time. The weather was sunny and warm, at around sixteen degrees everyday, and we relished in being able to dig out our tshirts and thongs - spiderwebs were starting to build up. We spent our days walking La Rambla, exploring Park Guell and appreciating the masterpiece-in-progress that is the Sagrada Familia. On our third day I was fortunate enough to attend a FC Barcelona game! They were playing FC Espanyol at Camp Nou, the largest stadium in Europe. It really was an amazing experience, and worth every Euro.
We made a few cool friends at our hostel, so we did a big communal dinner on our last night, which was really nice. It was the best atmosphere we had experienced so far in a hostel.
