So, I am further behind than ever. It has been a hectic, but great week. We had a full week in the Republic of Ireland.
We flew to Dublin from Amsterdam with a 4 hour stopover in Copenhagen. We got to have a look around Copenhagen city centre - unfortunately we didn't get to catch up with Princess Mary. It was a very historic city, with lovely Christmas markets and good shopping. As we were covering multiple currencies in a day we only changed a small amount of our money into the Danish currency. On the plus side I managed to afford an amazing spinach and mozzarella quiche - yum!
Once we had arrived in Dublin we settled into our hostel (Ashfield House) and went exploring. We found a traditional pub and got the classic fish and chips. We also tried some Guinness, but neither of us really warmed to it at all. The next day we took a day trip on the train to Cork and Blarney. We visited Blarney castle and did the usual touristy thing. That night we walked the streets of Dublin, as shops stay open quite late there.
The next morning we headed to Castleblayney. For those who don't know, I had some friends move there from Tassie many years ago, so we stayed with them. It was so wonderful to see them again, and to spend Christmas with people I knew. We had a great Christmas lunch, even with Yorkshire pudding. Whilst in Blayney we also went for a day walk around 'black island', tried to play squash and went shopping. It was great fun.
