Hey guys!
Tonight is our last night in Slovenija tonight. It has been really peaceful and quiet, up until tonight. Slovenija had their presidential elections yesterday, so there were extensive riots throughout this city this evening. Bit of a shame, as it coincided with the first night of the Christmas lights and markets. Otherwise, Ljubljana has been great, with heavy snowfalls yesterday throughout the az creating an impressive landscape to photograph.
We journeyed out to Bled yesterday (not as sinister as it sounds), to journey to the famous lake. There is a small island there which is onlz large enough to contain a small church (and a souvenir shop of course). We took a boat out to the island, and although the snow was too heavy to see much further than the island, it was worth a look.
We had two hours to spare at the train station (being a majority Roman Catholic country,on a Sunday everything was closed or in the case of trains, few and far between). So in such situations we have learned to stretch a small meal or hot drink a long way when it comes to cafes when needing to waste time. Three hot drinks later, we were on the train in the snow. Wonderful landscape to watch, impossible to photograph from the train but. Heading to Budapest (Hungary) tomorrow on a 9hr train - plenty of snacks ready to go! Olly has decided to learn Swedish, and I have decided to continue my French endeavour, which will at least keep us occupied for awhile during the trip. That being said, we have been struggling to communicate when not speaking English, as the languages do not exactly go hand in hand.
We join our tour on the 5th, for a week in Hungary, Slovakia (briefly), Poland and Czech Republic. Should be good to not have to plan everything for ourselved briefly.
Apologies for the looong post, it's the first time in a while that I've used a computer for it (as opposed to my ipod). Thanks for the messages re results. Will be in contact soon xx
