After leaving inspire-9 last night, I headed back to Claremont Guest House to drop off my things before diving out to another house viewing I had arranged in Port Melbourne. Port Melbourne is to the south / south-west of the CBD - across the Yarra river.
On the way I began snapping photos of my new surroundings - check out the same album as yesterday (15th of Feb) which has been updated with the days remaining photos. The area is predominantly residential, and has lower to middle class houses in it. The 109 tram takes you to the heart of Port Melbourne from Southern Cross station, and it took me over an hour to get there from South Yarra.
The house was nice, and the current tennants included a girl from Essex out here doing theatre work. It was however a lot more expensive than Damiens place in South Yarra. I decided that if Damiens place fell through, I would stay there if it was offered to me. After viewing the house I headed back to the Claremont Guest House.
I spent the remainder of the evening relaxing and communicating with the UK when I received a call from Damien. He informed me the other viewing had fallen through and that he and Chris were happy for me to take the place. I was overjoyed.
The next morning I got up and packed my stuff together. Damien and Chris were happy for me to move in straight away and I was not about to waste money on another 3 nights of hosteling if it was not needed. I headed down and collected my key, and entered my new home in South Yarra.
After dropping off my things the first order of business was sorting out bedding for myself. I headed out down to Chapel Street and into Woolworths to get some bedding, before dropping it off. The next order of business was getting some food in to last a few days. Again I headed out - this time to Coles. It was around 3pm and I had yet to eat anything, so I decided to make a quick detour to Grill'd for a celebratory burger. After having lunch and getting things sorted, I headed back once again to my new house in South Yarra.
The house itself is a very modern and styled house. Chris has done a lot of the artwork in the house and it really is a great place to chill out. I have put plenty photos of the place up for you to look at. Importantly, it has super-fast internet meaning I can get some work done in the late hours to cross over with the UK.
It has all the mod cons you would expect, plus Chris has a wicked sound set-up. Very cool. I really think I am going to like it here. No doubt more will come in the next few days, but for now, a raging thunderstorm is going on outside and I refuse to miss it. Catch you all later,
Ian.
