By the time the thunderstorm died down it was around 7pm, and Kris and Damien (who apparently prefers - and so henceforth will be known as - Butzy) came in from work. I popped out to grab us a few beers as a celebratory drink. We chilled out for a few hours before heading out down on to Chapel Street.
Kris suggested we head to a Thai restaurant on Chapel Street - he called it Thai with a twist. Always one for trying new food, I gave a hell yeh vote and so along we went. Walking in, the place had a fantastic vibe. The walls were styled with loads of different artwork - see the pics for a few examples. The main area had couches, with tvs and classic games consoles hooked up to them playing things like super mario bros and super mario kart.
The resteraunt section was in the back but was overflowing with people, so we nabbed a couch instead and ordered food from there. Whilst waiting we took turns on super mario on the NES, something I havent played in years - very retro. Next to us was the DJ booth - (yes a DJ booth in a resteraunt!) and he was playing some banging house and dance music - not exactly what you would expect in a thai restaurant!
Across from us were loads of pinball machines and classic game machines - like streetfighter arcade. The place had a fantastic feel, and best of all, when the food came - it was to die for. Kris listed out all the different stuff on the menu he had tried and could recommend, and he had a voucher entitling him to half price food. We got EVERYTHING he recommended.
Mine and Butzy's meals in perticular were fantastic - "thai bolognaise" and a lamb curry respectively. Im not sure what goes in to thai bolognaise, but by god it was amazing. Also on the table Kris had order a side consisting of many different fruit falvours mixed with spices, fish and nuts (think lemon, lime, orange etc mixed with red and green chilli).
The whole meal was great, and after devouring what was a mountain of food for basically £6 each, we headed out to a bar called Blue - also on Chapel Street. Buying jugs each, we sat outside and chilled the night away. The place was so sociable - everyone just comes up and has a chat. Kris told me there were 2 rules in Blue - 1. If you leave your chair for any reason, its fair game - even if your sitting with other people and left your drink - and more importantly 2. If you buy a jug - anyone is allowed to come and drink from it - in return they buy a jug and you drink from theres.
It meant that all night people were coming and going - and I thorougly enjoying meeting so many people in one day. Kris knew all the staff and the DJ working there too and there was always some banging tunes on! I had a great night before we returned to the appartment and crashed out.
The next day was far less eventful, spent mostly working and researching in the appartment, nipping out quickly for a little shopping run. Although the appartment is just off the railway and round the corner from two epically busy streets, there is almost no noise at all. When the freight trains pass every now and again, you hear those, but otherwise it can be really serene sitting on the balcony chilling out.
Today, I want to get cracking with some more work to keep the finances going well - but first its 12pm and I have yet to have breakfast. Laters all.
Ian.

Scott That Blue place sounds great, I wish there were more friendly sociable chillout bars in Newcastle like that. I don't think it could ever work though. Could you imagine nicking someone's seat in a bar in Newcastle? I definitely couldn't imagine sharing some random blokes beer pitcher. You'd just get your dish punched in. "No no, sorry mate you don't understand. I was going to buy you a pitcher in return". "Yea right, f*** off mate if you want to share someone's pitcher get yourself to the pink triangle with all the other benders."
