Today we went on the canopy tour which was basically zip lining in the forest, up seriously high trees! There were also two abseiling sections and a tarzan rope. I couldn´t honestly say how high it was but we have never seen trees this high in the UK. We were in groups of ten and went one by one down the zip line, but we all congregate on one platform (which was very safe and we were harnessed to the tree) but it was tiny and there was no space to move and it wobbled rather a lot! I was a case of don´t look down and hang onto the tree!!
The tarzan rope was the most scary (see pics) as it was at the highest point and you simply had to step off the platform, putting your faith in all the safety gear...loads of fun though!!
Although being up seriously high trees was not the scariest part of the day...to get to the canopy tour we drove for 45 minutes on a dirt track and all was well until we came to a bridge that was made out of planks of wood (but was only about 10 feet up). It looked just wide enough to take the bus. The driver made a big song and dance of lining up the bus, taking ages to make sure that it was safe, and generally making everyone a bit nervous. We were half way across the bridge when the driver suddenly slammed on the breaks and screamed!! It wasn´t until we heard the other guides laughing, that we realised it was a joke (Which I didn´t find very funny as tried to relocated my stomach and heart that had leapt out my body!) Grrrrr....
The photos explain this expedition a bit better than words can.
