Day 11 We made the decision to keep the car and tae it up to denali, in case it was a difficult to get around as Kenai. Day 10 We hired a canoe for the day (pretty cheaply), strapped it to the roof and ten headed to Mom & Dadś grocery store to buy supplies and a cheap fishing rod (no idea how to use it or what tio do if we caught a fish!) and then set off to Swanson River with a very simple map of the Swanson Lakes Canoe Trail. Day 9 We got up late and went to Russian River Campground wher we had to queue for a tent space with Mr & Mrs RV. We got to our site on top of a hill and spent ages rigging an elaborate tarp over our table, we searched for firewood and Ian wittled some poles for the tarp. Day 8 We woke up to a bunch of angry squirrels squeaking and throwing fir cones at us. After breckie overlooking the lake we packed and collected our untoughed bearbin. Day 7 Woke up to the stunning vew of the snowcapped mountains surrounding the bay. We spent the morning taking our photo opportunities during the brief moments when the clouds broke, enough to take good pictures. On the way back we stopped for breakfast at the sourdough cafe.
