Day 1:
The Johannesburg short term missions trip team, consisting of Michael, Mei Teng, Denise, Francis, Jocelyn, Ethan, Chloe, Emma and me. After over 10 hours of being in the air, we finally landed in Johannesburg at about 7am plus (South Africa's time, 6 hours behind Singapore's time).
It was about half an hour drive from the airport to Sister Lerato's house. When we arrived at her house, we had a short briefing about this Saturday's seminar. Then, Lerato's brother drove us to Norwood Mall, which was about 15 min drive from her house.
We had our brunch there, at this fast food place called Wimpy. The food was quite nice and we spent a total of about 3 hours at the mall.
We went back to the house at 1pm plus. I guess my body clock was reacting a fair bit and I felt quite sleepy (when it was 7pm in Singapore). Weird. Perhaps, also due to not sleeping well while in the plane on the way here. Finally succumbing to the deficiency in sleep thereof, I went to take a 3 hour nap and it helped to rejuvenate and put my body clock back to order (hopefully, it won't affect my night time rest).
It was about 4pm. There wasn't much activity, merely dawdling the hours away, while waiting for Emma to whip up delicious dinner for everyone. Indeed, the dinner was great, with great company as well.
After dinner, we continued to chat with Ps Henry and Lerato. And the question was asked,"How would we consider this trip to be a successful trip for the team?" Amongst many sharing, I believe that with the limited days we have, I hope to make an impact in the lives of the people here by encouraging them to take the church forward. The church must be made up of committed Christians who are willing to take up the cross and run the race till the end; sadly, few and far between in this day and age. So here we are, availing ourselves, hoping to see that our contributions will make the deepest impact in the church here. Amen.
