Day 4:
We woke up at 7am and left at about 8am plus for Nijo Fish Market. At one of the outlet in the fish market, we had our breakfast and though it was very filling, it was rather expensive too; over S$60 (more expensive than yesterday's breakfast) but very well worth it. Emma had her fish roe and uni while I had my large and fat piece of fish with rice.
After breakfast, we took a long bus ride of about an hour plus to the Historical Village of Hokkaido. On the bus, we slept almost throughly the entire journey.
The first thing we did before walking around the open area was to ride on a horse-drawn sleigh. The horse took us around some parts of the area for around 10min plus; quite an experience for us riding on a sleigh first time. Generally, the village displayed olden days building structures of Hokkaido and depicted the kind of lifestyle in the past. It's divided into four main sectors: the town, the fishing, the farm and the mountain villages. The only thing, I felt, was that besides the buildings which we could admire clearly, everything surrounding them was covered in white. But yet, it was still enjoyable to take our time to walk around the villages of an ancient era.
Next, we visited two sites that most tourists would go in Sapporo: the Clock Tower and the Former Hokkaido Government Office Building. Both these attractions were within walking distance from each other. We didn't spend much time in each of them; merely walked around the inside, paused and looked at some of its explanations of which most were written in Japanese. It seems that history is not really an area of our interest.
I added another touristy thing to my list of experience - go up the JR Tower Observatory (38th floor) to admire the panorama of Sapporo. The thrill of looking from a bird's eye view is to identify the places that you have possibly visited. I couldn't, either because I have not visited many of the places to begin with, or it is just not my faculty for recognizing buildings from afar. Of course, I couldn't miss Sapporo TV Tower and the Former Hokkaido Government Office Building.
After that, at about 430pm, we were so tired that we went back to the hotel to nap for an hour plus. Then, we went to eat at Ebi Kani Gassen. The crabs and tempura were fantastic but we were given a limit of 90 minutes to "eat all we can". We were so focused that we were just eating away throughout the 90 minutes just so that it made our money's worth. One of the crab that I had it for the first time was the hairy crab. Overall, it was indeed a delectable dinner.
After dinner, we walked along 狸小路. It was just a long street with shops on both sides. And, we ended off out night at a cafe where I had a huge "bowl" of coffee while Emma had a huge "bowl" of milk tea. Yes, the coffee and tea were literally served in bowls (or was it cups without handles?).
We went back to the hotel at about 10pm plus. I slept at about 12am plus after completing this entry.
