Day 6 - 10 Jun 15
We woke up at 7am. Breakfast was at the hotel itself and after that, we went to the Omi-cho Market for a walk. Many fresh local produce could be found at the market, ranging from fruits, seafood, vegetables etc.
Next, we crossed the road towards Meitetsu M'ZA shopping mall. We decided to do all our shopping in the morning. At first, we had intended to shop for about an hour plus (before moving on to the next attraction); however, as Le fussed and got a little cranky, we decided to go back to the hotel. We guessed it was partly because he was not well and so we decided that it was best to let both the kids have some rest in the morning.
Back in the hotel room, I watched the NBA Game 3 Finals between the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers. As a Warriors' supporter, I was a little disappointed that they did not win Game 3. Mum and sis' family had already begun their sightseeing after doing their shopping.
The kids woke up at about 130pm. We went for lunch at one of the small restaurant at Meitetsu. I had Ramen and believe it or not, it was my first after being in Japan for the last 5 days.
After lunch, we took the Kanazawa loop bus to the Higashi Chaya District. After we alighted, we walked briskly around the area. There wasn't much that we saw; on hindsight, it was because we might not have gotten to the right area where the rows of teahouses were located, though we alighted at the correct stop.
Anyway, it was sort of a detour for us because partly, mum and sis' family were having their lunch somewhere else; while we waited for them, we thought that in order not to waste time, we might as well explore somewhere - in our case, the Chaya District.
We had arranged to meet up with them after their lunch and there was a miscommunication which was really alright - after all, we were all on holidays. The miscommunication was the wrong place that we arranged to meet up; we thought they had wanted to visit Kanazawa Castle Park but in fact, it was the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art. Thankfully, they were just one stop away from each other.
Finally, we caught up with them at 21st Century Museum. The exhibits in the museum were totally abstract. The highlight was the Leandro's pool. From the deck, it looked like an actual swimming pool and you would see people taking pictures underneath the pool. It created an illusionary feel of someone really in the water when only a layer of transparent glass filled with water, covered the pool.
Our last stop of the day (before dinner) was at Kanazawa Castle Park. It was about 15min walk from the Museum of Contemporary Art. When we arrived, we realised that it was closed for admission. However, I was contented to just hang around outside the castle and capture some decent shots of its majesty.
Dinner was at 市の蔵 which was located at the 2nd floor of Omi-cho Market. I had a bowl of rice and a yummy bowl of seafood miso soup plus some other assortment of side dishes. It was a perfect way to end the day.
After dinner, we went to a drug store to get some stuff. Then, we returned to our room and did our usual routine of settling the kids first before hitting the sack. It was overall a fruitful day.
