Day 1 - 5 Jun 15
We arrived at Haneda Airport at 7am, after about 7 hours of flight from Singapore. However, it wasn't our final destination yet; we spent about 4 hours at Haneda before boarding our domestic flight to Toyama at 1145am.
During transit, we had Udon for breakfast. Sis also took the opportunity to give us a general overview of the attractions that we will be covering throughout the trip. After breakfast, we went to the observation deck where huge space was available for the kids to monkey around. Le was particularly intrigued when he saw the planes taking off and landing. "你看!" he'd exclaim at the top of his lungs, much to my amusement but at the same time empathetic of that excitement of a two-year-old.
After the observation deck, we adjourned to another small playground area for the kids. By then, the adults were already very zonked. We took turn to catch some sleep and some of us also got some food and coffee as we were feeling a little hungry then. This was our 3rd round for breakfast (Our 1st round was taken on the plane at about 3am and the 2nd round was the Udon we had at about 7am).
Finally, it was time to board the plane and the one-hour journey en route to Toyama was rather smooth, mainly because I was in deep sleep. Haha.
Upon arrival at Toyama, we cleared the custom and picked up our rented cars. It was already 2pm and somehow, we were hungry (again) and I was not spared from feeling it either. We were supposed to drive an hour to Himi city (Fisherman's Wharf) but en route, we stopped by Sus***ama for lunch. It was about 3pm when we finished our lunch and unanimously, we dropped the idea of Fisherman's Wharf for we highly suspected the possibility that we might not be able to eat another round of lunch even when we were there. So, we decided to head towards our accommodation for the night at Toyama Chitetsu Hotel.
What seemed only about a 15min ride from Sus***ama took us close to an hour plus. Despite keying in the correct mapcode, it took us to an entirely different place. Well, thankfully, Google map was still very dependable when we needed it but even with the convincing voice that said "You have reached your destination", we were still nowhere near our hotel because it was just too obscure. Ok, no more reliance on technology now. We asked for help and through the guidance of various kind Japanese souls, we eventually found the hotel. What was the mystery? The mystery was because the hotel carpark was at a different location from the hotel itself. Strange but true. We had to walk a short distance from the carpark to the hotel.
Upon checking in, all of us freshened ourselves up and met again at 6pm. We had dinner at Trattoria d'Italia Capricciosa which was just located at Marier shopping mall next to the hotel. We had pasta. After dinner, we went to the supermarket to get some fruits and desserts.
We returned to our room at 8pm. After putting the kids to bed, we also rested for the night. An exciting day two to look forward to.....
