Leg 5 - race 7 - day 16
Came off shift at 7am wrote crew diary then went back on deck at 7.30 to take photos of the sun rise. Went to bunk for a sleep. Still under spinnaker and rocking gently along.
Woke at 10.30 had breakfast/ lunch
Chicken wraps (freeze dried chicken ) wasn't too bad. All the fruit has run out now and I am craving fresh fruit and vegetables.
I never get spots but got lots on my chin so now making sure I use fresh water each day to wash my face.
Went back to my bunk and read for a few hours. Started a new book -breath by Tim winton. Fell asleep then up at 2.30 for shift 3-7pm had the spinnaker up but changed from code 3 to code 2 (bigger sail) noticed Garmin on the horizon but as soon as we changed sail we gained speed and lost them in the distance.
Came off shift onto standby. Sophie was repairing one of the sails and I baked two loaves of bread. Had four hours sleep then back on at 3am. So many stars in the sky can't believe how much more you notice when out at sea.
We are still in third place behind Derry -1st and GB 2nd we have gained on them both then behind us is garmin then lmax then hundred miles or so is rest of the fleet. On shift kept trimming to make sure we Kept the boat going as fast as we could. Came off shift at 7am it was still dark had a hot chocolate and slice of bread with peanut butter and jam. Wasn't too bad for my first attempt at baking bread.
Miles covered 240 speed 8.4-12.2
