Leg 5 - race 7 - day 14
9am laying in my bunk hearing a lot of banging : they were bringing spinnaker down (another rip more sewing! ) offered to help but they said for me to rest as sophie working though and will need me later.
Got up at 12 and helped wool spinnaker and get it up on deck. Went up on deck 2.45 for shift til 7pm had spinnaker up and all went smoothly. Sophie and jane have been using sewing machine to fix the other spinnaker all day.
Weather was cooler up on deck a little sunshine and clouds so quiet pleasant. Although had a couple showers of rain but it was cooling. Wore shorts and t shirt.
One thing I have noticed is my foulies are not waterproof so dreading when we go to China and it gets cold and it will be harder to dry clothes out. Yuk! Although the round the worlders say you get into your bunk with wet clothes on and they dry out!!!
Came off watch onto stand by washed up.
Back to bed then up 3am - 7am still have spinnaker up flying along and have been for hours now doing around 12-13 knots we are back in third place.
Heard through our email that lmax suspended themselves from the race for a few hours as they discovered a 45 foot yacht with no mast floating along. Then went on board to see if they needed help and discovered a dead man! Not nice they reported it to the authorities who said to leave it and they will pick up.
One thing about sailors is they always look out for each other.
Miles covered 279 speed 10.1-14 knots
