Leg 5 - race 7 -day 15
Woke at 1pm laid in bunk for a while listening to music and reading my book ( 2 nd book now) twilight between oceans by m. L. Steaman.
It's 1st February today. As we are doing so well we thought we would be in Vietnam early but clipper have changed the course as they don't want us in before 17th Feb! Bit of a pain as we were looking forward to spending more days in Vietnam! So now I am on a 17 day count down. Can't believe I have been at sea for 14 days so far. The last few days just seen ocean ocean and more ocean! Thought we would see more boats don't even see planes as not on a flight path. We see the occasional odd bird.
One thing I notice is the colour of the sea. When the waves break on the bow of the boat the turn a pure blue so pretty.
Looking forward to getting to land and having a rest from the boat but enjoying it. Keep thinking about the children it's hard not being able to contact them: phone is showing no service!! Looked at the photos of the children I have on my phone. Tear in my eye miss them all so much,.xxxxxxx
Had a lovely chat with Caroline on my watch last night. She said she will miss me and Carl when we get off for legs 6&7 and said we are the most noticeable leggers as we get so involved.
We still have the kite up ( spinnaker up and are flying along )
Came onto standby shift from 7-11pm
Took a bowl of fresh water and had a wash down in the heads (loo) can't wait to have a decent shower feel so grubby! Baby wipes just aren't the same also have a lot of bites on my legs and arms feel like I need a good scrub ! 17 days to go :arhhh !!!
Before going off my standby watch have to wake The next watch up 30mins before they are due to go on deck. Seems cruel waking them up but everyone gets used to it. Went to bed at 11pm up at 3am - 7am for night shift kite still flying and watch went smooth.
Miles covered 264 - speed 9.8-14.5
