My first two nights at my hostel didn't go very well. When I first arrived I didnt pay much attention to anything, because I was so tired and just wanted to get in bed as quickly as possible. I failed to notice that there wasn't much of an atmosphere and the people weren't very friendly. I felt quite lonely being in a room on my own and decided to move onto a different one. So, I got my backpack and walked to the next hostel. Couldn't believe how heavy it was, but I managed it. I will probably get home and have legs of steel! I am now at Base backpackers and it's fantastic. I'm staying in the Sanctuary dorm, which is for girls only and you have to have a key card to get into our area! My room has been designed just for me I think, as it has pink walls, pink bins, white fluffy towels and soft, clean bed sheets, that are actually duvets and not just a horrible itchy blanket.
Yesterday, I hopped onto a tram and took it into Melbourne city and had a really good day. Went around some shops, had some lunch, walked around the city and went into the Immigration museum. This was quite interesting, but I did'nt stay very long as there was too much to read! Melbourne city is great and has that buzz like atmosphere, just like London. After a day of walking I decided to make my way back. Wasn't sure whether I had got onto the right tram, but I did. I'm quite proud of myself, as I am finding my way around quite well! Lee, you should be proud! hee. When I got back I was just about to go downstairs and load my photos on, when two girls arrived into my room. I was so relieved that they were english, as the two other girls are german and it's very hard to talk to them as they don't really understand anything. It was Ladies night down in the hostel bar, where all the girls get free champagne from 9-11! I wanted to go but wasn't sure as did't want to be drinking on my own like a loser. The girls, Zoe and Chris asked if i wanted to go down with them, so it was time to quickly change out of my walking shoes, jeans and jumper and try to make myself look a bit more decent to go out. The atmosphere was brilliant and we had such a good time, as you can see by the photos. The free champagne was probably not the best of ideas though, as my head feels like it is going to explode today. Unfortunately, Zoe and Chris was only staying for one night, so hopefully will get some new people that I get on with just as well.
I have booked some tours to go on for the next few days. Tomorrow I am going to Great Ocean Road, Sunday I am going to Phillip Island to see the little penguins and then on Monday I am doing the Neighbours tour and Neighbours night! Very excited, and will let you know how they all go soon.
Take care everyone xx
