Saturday 19th July
Okay well been a while since I have updated you on what me and Mike have been up to. We went to the Cardrona Games up the mountain the other night. I asked if I could leave early at Tango's and got a Cheque girl to cover the rest of my shift. She, crazily enough is called Jana aswell! (I only know one other girl from Cheq which is Lees girlfriend also called Jana) Must be a popular name over there. Anyway this girl is really really nice, she is 23 but looks about 17, her skin is perfectly clear, i'm very jelous! Anyway moving on Mike and James picked me and another girl from work called Elle and her friend up and we went up the mountain. Elle has been doing snowboarding seasons back to back for god knows how many years! She is from the Gold Coast in Oz and she's done seasons in Canada, America, Oz and now NZ. She works as a snowboarding instructer in Salt Lake City in Utah where she says has the best powder she has ridden. I'm going to pay her to teach me a few things on the park up the mountain so I can progress a bit faster as I'm not progressing much! I can link all my turns now and bomb it down the mountain but I still cant go on my toes on steep bits or when its icy, and am sketchy on the Cat tracks (thin bits with no room for calving much) Elle makes this amazing hats with a HUGE bobble on top that fit perfectly, so I'm going to get a bright coloured one to contrast with my bright red hair, will prob get green and Mike is going to get a yellow and black one. They are $30 which is how much they would be in a shop if not a bit more expensive but they are mint so we're getting one! Mike bought me a packed lunch as we were going straight from work so I ate my cheese sandwhiches in the car with my apple. Everyone was drinking beers and I had my vodka and we had a road trip up the mountain. It started with dirt bikes on the snow up a big ramp. One guy was the clear winner as he did a flip in the air on the bike. Then we headed up the mountain with our beers. It was quite strange being up the mountain at night, with the moon in sight, he he that rhymed! Climbing up just a little way in deep snow was an absolute killer! I was completely knackered and out of breath but we finally got a good spot and all sat down to watch the big air. They had a DJ tent, music, Pannel of judges which was good. The show was alright, not as good as I expected, lots of falls as it I think it was an 80ft ramp they were all jumping off. Most of them fell over boarders and skiers. You couldnt hear the DJ much and it was ages before the next competitor came, plus you didnt know that they were coming so you would be starting at this ramp for 5 minutes in the freezing cold waiting for someone to come down it then you would take a sip of your drink and you'd miss it. In my opinion they should have had a horn or something to signal that the competitor was doing the run! We saw the dirt bikes again and a guy did the first somersault (ist that how you spell it?) in NZ ever acomplished. It was great. Mike penguined down the mountian and I sat on my bum and slid all the way down (on purpose) but accidently took a poor kid out with me all the way down we tumbled together and he had to walk back up to his friends! whooops! We all had a laugh in the car on the way down as we were a bit pissed so decided to take the mood into town. Went home got changed and headed out on the tiles. Met up with James had a few dances.... then! I dont think I have told you that there is a really aragont chef that works at Oakridge. He is super rude to everyone, you ask him a question and he answers you like you are something he has scraped off his shoe. He doesnt even speak to some people just blanks them. I have been ready a few times to give him a piece of my mind but have held back as I am quite new at the job! Anyway they had all gone for drinks after work and he said something to me and as I was drunk I dont quite know what he said. I can only really recall him saying something then "waitress" But my drunken ear heard " You are the worlds worst Waitress" Which I really dont know if he said that or not. Anyway I replied very abruptly and loud " Well you are the most rudest AROGANT chef i've ever met!!!!" and walked off! .... Oh dear what if he just said "Hi your the waitress arent you?" I will never know what he said but i'm DREADING going to work! eeeek! Luckily i kinda quit Oakridge a couple of weeks ago. Matt the main guy said he will keep me on the books and just call me in when they are busy which is good. I really enjoy working only 2 days a week! Its ace! I have so much time to do things! Go to the Gym, go on nights out in the week, learn a foreign language, go snowboarding, just living life really instead of working. Its great! although the odd days like the other night I worked 11.00am - 11.00pm cuz Matt asked me to work that night and I was working at Tango's in the day. I was tired but it was okay as it was a one off. I've learnt how to make smoothy's and milk shakes and I make the sandwhiches which I like doing. I hate the clean down though it takes about 2 hours, hoovering, steam cleaning, washing everything up! I've dowloaded a few free Lean Thai packages which I have been doing quite well at by myself. There is a Thai girl at Oakridge that I am going to ask if she will teach me. I've also ordered a book which they use in education to teach thai with C.D's which I can practice in the car. I've been teaching Mike random words. Its sooooooo hard as one word can mean 10 different things its the pitch and the way you say it that differentiates it! They cant understand what you say unless you get it exactly right! Unfortunately I got a little over excited with learning Thai that I asked this family if they were Thai that I was serving but unfortunately they were Japense? I dont think they were too impressed! So I gave them all an extra scoop of icecream in the cones grimacing! Until next time on Hayley and Mikes Adventures...... Word of the week "Bean" (the name Ben the way the NZ'ers say it!) Me and Mike have a laugh saying it.
