We got to go horse riding today! We rode at the beautiful Palo Duro Riding Stables. It was a great stables that has been in the same family for three generations. The family live in the canyon which is absolutely stunning. We then drove around the entire state park which was lovely. The cactus all had big yellow flowers. We then visited the historic route 66 area of Amarillo where we had dinner at the Golden Light Cafe (we owe this one to Carl and Marilyn as it was from the roadfood book). We had amazing chilli burgers with stunning chilli as well as proper skin on French fries. The cafe has been at the same spot since 1946 and is likely one of the oldest surviving on route 66. It also had a great friendly, local feel.
