The day finally came when with heavy hearts we had to say goodbye to Marilyn and Carl. We headed from Castro Valley over the San Mateo Bridge towards the pacific coast highway 1. It was not long before we began to encounter stunning scenery. We followed the coast road to Big Sur where we stopped for our amazing picnic prepared for us by Marilyn and Carl. Big Sur stretches for miles and is absolutely breathtaking. We saw many Californian condors and some Pelicans. Shortly after Big Sur we drove past a beach covered in seals. I got Andrew to turn around so we could go see them. They were elephant seals and there weren't hundreds there were thousands. It was so special seeing them so close, they were molting and lying flicking sand over themselves, yawning and rubbing their eyes. We then drove on to visit the small town of Harmony where Marilyn and Carl were married. We were so pleased we had time to visit it was lovely. We then drove the short distance to our motel in San Louis Obispo.
