Woke to the heat of the morning sun and walked to tulum ruins along with coach loads of Cancun holiday makers and whiney kids. Got soaked by the arrival of a storm, despite sheltering under some palm trees with some resident iguanas - although rain quite welcoming given the heat. Tried to head to Chichen Itza ruins (one of the seven wonders of the world). All roads leading there blocked by locals because of some political protest. Last minute change of plan and headed south to Tulum. Checked in to a cabana, little shack type thing with a thatched roof and nothing much else, on the tulum beach, which occasionally had to share with iguanas.
