Rose early to beat the chichen itza crowds and were the 3rd and 4th people through the gates. It was worth it to see all of the main buildings without the hundreds of tour groups (and of course get some good snaps without the inconvenience of other tourists!) The ruins (although much less ruined that many others we have seen) were really interesting and quite amazing - glad our 2nd forced detour forced us back to tick off one of the 7 wonders of the modern world....

After a fearful night wondering whether our cabana would blow away or flood, we took an early bus to Chichen Itza. Rob's improving Spanish ensured we changed buses successfully and got dropped off outside our hostel. This saved a 2km walk with heavy backpacks. Enjoyed lunch buffet and afternoon swim.
