Rose early to beat the chichen itza crowds and were the 3rd and 4th people through the gates. It was worth it to see all of the main buildings without the hundreds of tour groups (and of course get some good snaps without the inconvenience of other tourists!) The ruins (although much less ruined that many others we have seen) were really interesting and quite amazing - glad our 2nd forced detour forced us back to tick off one of the 7 wonders of the modern world. We were walking out and ready to dive in our pool just as the coachloads from cancun were arriving and the hawkers were finishing setting up their stalls. After a swim went for a brilliant local meal at one of the pollo shacks, came out stuffed and sank back in the pool. Bus to cancun, found a cheap hotel, went for Mexican style burgers and cervezas.
