Early bus from El Calafate to El Chalten, the Argentinian home of trekking and the gateway to the Los Glaciares National Park. Greeted by the amazing sight of the Fitz Roy range and the surrounding cloud encircled peaks. Scampered along a relatively short trail to the Los Condores and Las Aguilas viewpoints for even better views of the snowcapped peaks, the small El Chalten town and Lago Viedma. Spectacular views but there was only so long we could stay for due to the incredibly strong wind. Scrummy cake and hot drinks rewarded our return to town.
Later went out for some extremely nice and typically Argentinian meaty lamb/beef dishes.
After clambering in to the very narrow and rail-less top bunk, Rob spent most of the night clinging to the wall or dreaming of falling.
