QUEENSTOWN
After Franz Josef we headed to lake wanaka for one night, managed to take some amazing photos of this really nice lake on the way. We just had a chilled night in lake wanaka, played a bit of touch and american football with our new danish/american friends. And basically prepared ourself for the best bit of NZ, QUEENSTOWN!!
FRIDAY
We got to queenstown at 1 o clock after going on a secrets of bungy tour down at the AJ hackett bungy centre where we all signed up for the massive bungy, the 134m NEVIS!! So at 3 o clock we all headed off in a shuttle bus to the NEVIS bungy site, some where more nervous than others but i think deep down we all couldn't wait! I was pretty f***ing excited as i had been looking forward to doing it for about 3 months!! I was quite annoyed that they wouldn't let me do it naked though, apparently due to the weather. They wouldn't let me do it in sams thong either so i was in slight discomfort for about 4 hours!!
After signing in and waiting around for a bit we put our harnesses on and headed down to the little cable car thing that took us across to the main bungy hut in the middle of the gorge. It was pretty sketchy as the floor was see through and the whole thing was moving around in the wind!! I went first, sat in what they call "THE CHAIR" and got strapped up, i then waddled over to the edge and heard the words 5-4-3-2-1 BUNGY! I did a massive swan dive and then fell the 134m in 8 seconds!! I was amazing!!! I think it was even slightly better than the skydive! It was so good that i did it again but with my hands behind my back like a bullet!! I was so full of adrenaline afterwards than i couldn't even speak!! Guy and slates also did it twice and sam i think has now overcome his fear of heights, and although not saying anything before he jumped he was so happy after he had done it!! We had an amazing afternoon!!! Definately one of the best things i have every done, now i just need to somehow get to beijing and tackle the even bigger 231m bungy!!
When we got back into queenstown we all went for a worlf famour ferg burger! It was such a good burger!! An awesome burger place, it is only shut for 1 hour a week for cleaning!! We then all headed out for some beers and it ended up in a pretty messy night which involved some hilarious videos and photos and a pot of vegemite!! I also bumped into james greenhalgh which was really nice as i hadn't seen him for a while!! Its always weird being 12,000 miles from home and seeing an old friend!!
SATURDAY
Woke up feeling very rough this morning after a few to many jager bombs and tequilas!! But me charlie and will headed off to the shotover canyon swing to do some more adrenaline pumping extrem stuff!! I did two jumps in the end, my first being know as a gimp boy goes to hollywood (upside down and back to front), that was pretty good but i wanted something even scarier so i asked for the jump crew special. This is known as a bin laden, so i did it with a bin on my head!! The jump crew messed with my head, made me dizzy and eventually cattle prodded (electricuted) me off the edge!! I was pretty awesome!!! So in the last three days i have done my second skydive, 2 massive bungy jumps and two crazy canyon swings!! How often do you get to do that!! NZ is awesome!!
SUNDAY
This was a sort of team chillout day, after a few nights of heavy partying and a few days of intense adrenaline rushes we all seemed quite tired, but after watching films all day i felt like another night out so me and a few of the english/danish guys headed out together for another awesome evening ending up at the world bar where you get cocktails in teapots and then the best fast food place in NZ and maybe even the world, FERGBURGER!!
MONDAY
We all woke up early and headed up the road where we had to catch our shuttle bus to whats is called mad dog river boarding, which in a nutshell is white water rafting on bodyboards. Was an awesome laugh, the river was pretty nippy so any remains of a hangover where well and truly knocked out of my system!! But it was much more intense than i first realised. Me and slater got pulled uder water together at a rapid that was called rollercoaster i think. We then both poped back out again after the rapid and took a big gasp of air, laughing! After cruising down the river for an hour and a half we came to the end of the rapid to the guide got out a jet ski and towed us down the river to a little spot they had which was set up with a load of rock jumps, massive water slide and a very large rope swing. We all did the rock jumps, i backflipped first of the 7m jump which hurt much more than i thought it would, taking the wind right out of me. We then headed up and did a 10m then a 16/17m cliff jump which was pretty high! Stayed under water for a good five seconds after hitting the water and that was with a life jacket on!! We then pissed around for a further hour on the slide and rope swing all trying to backflip and stuff. In the end it was an awesome day out and probably one of the best things i did in NZ.
When we arrived back at the hostel we bumped into a mate we had left back up in wellington called robbie, a scottish guy! Top lad! We managed to get 10 of us together and had a good 2 hour game of touch down at the local rugby pitch! A seriously tiring day, but awesome!!
We then all headed out again for a big because we got the bin involved!! I m not sure what crunk juice number we are up to now but it is a good laugh. I think we had 13 people drinking out of out communal crunk juice bin! Was an awesome night which ended up in a slight issue with the police and me having to share a bed with slater (for some unknown reason)!!
