NELSON

We arrived in nelson on thursday to this really nice hostel, probably the nicest hostel we ve stayed in. Not only do we have an ensuite bathroom to our dorm room but the also have a really nice bar with guiness on tap. Me and slates had our first pint of guiness from the tap and soon as 6 o clock hit! We had a nice chilled eve on thrusday jsut watching a few films as we had to be up early for a day trip to the abel tasman national park. We woke up early on friday morn and hopped on our coach up to the abel tasman national park where we then jumped on a water taxi and headed about 17km up the coast to kayak the whole way back! The kayaking took most of the day and we stopped on a really nice beach for lunch (was all good apart from the bloody sand flies who had a tendancy to only attack me so i am now covered in bites!!), the whole coastline is amazing!! The abel tasman national park is really beautiful so luckily with 3 of us carrying waterproof camera s we got some good shots. It was a really awesome day and luckily the weather pulled through so we had some awesome sun for most of the day.

Friday night in nelson is meant to be quite fun so we all headed out to the local backpackers bar, sharks and played lots of pool and had a few local beers after learning all these because we did a beer tasting session in the hostel. It was a pretty good night which ended up in one of the group passing out and a beard trimmer getting involved, i shall say no more!!

Saturday was a very chilled out day, the weather was awesome so we just recovered from the previous night in the sun with bob marley in the background and a large glass of water. We decided as england were playing scotland at 4 30 am sunday morning our time it would be wrong to not stay true to our country and stay up all night to watch the game. So we started early with probably the funniest meal we have ever had at the local curry house. We had a young waiter called jack who was very camp and could only say yes certainly, it ended in a good curry and too much laughing but it got us ready for the england game. We decided to head to sharks again after a little bit of crunk juice from our faithful blue bin which we carry around with us. He know has facebook and is called huckleberry bin which is pretty funny! Anyways we had another awesome night at shark bar with sam carrying a broom around all night for some reason, and soon after closing time we headed to the sports bar where they had promised to leave there outside tv on so that we could watch the game. They hadnt left it on so we didnt get to watch england beat scotland or ireland take the grand slam. Real shame! So we headed back to the hostel for a short burst of sleep before leaving for westport at 8 the next morning.

We had a chilled sunday night in westport having a game of touch on the local rugby pitch, we have managed to teach a couple of danish people how to play as well and they are now loving it! Was good fun though as we also had 5 english guys from the bus who all play rugby so we got a good game going. We them had some supper and watch the Lord of the Rings.
