Today was about heat. Record heat. I had only managed about 4hrs sleep on top of the bed through the night and felt quite groggy.
We ate breakfast outside in the back garden which is such a nice relaxing setting.
As the mercury continued to rise we headed to the pool to cool off. The pool was very quiet around midday and it was great to be in the water and feel human. You needed to wear sunglasses though as the suns reflection off the water was quite blinding.
Soon it got too hot for Becky and I felt jet lagged if you can believe it & we headed back to the house. Here, both feeling cooler tried to grab a nap. I succeeded in 30mins that changed the shape of my day and awoke feeling great. Becky however did not and just felt worse. I joined them in the back garden and was the only person to sit in the scorching sun.
We moved to the front garden for cheese and bread on the patio. I ate more than I should of course.
Another jaunt to the pool saw Becky take a turn for the worse as it had got even hotter.
Becky went down into the basement for the rest of the day where she was able to function in the much cooler temperatures. I operated a 20min cycle of sunshine then cool off. Any longer outside would have been silly as temperatures had now reached 42 in the shade. At one stage I put my feet up and in two mins felt my soles burning.
Becky was able to join us for dinner but couldn’t eat.
This evening we both went down and slept in the basement with it’s amazing microclimate.
