Lorna dropped Becky and I off at Newcastle airport on a lovely afternoon. We were through security quickly and onto our first flight of the day. We had decided to fly to Paris via Heathrow to save some money & potentially catch up with any of Becky’s friends who maybe working.
At Heathrow we asked if we could get on the earlier flight but as they had already requested people to go to the gate they could not move us forward. As her pals were all busy and with three hours to go, we opted to use the aspire lounge.
The T5 lounge is a joint venture lounge and not up to the standard I would expect from Aspire. For the most part it’s a long corridor with some seats along it. Food choices were limited to Ham cheese and pasta. You also had to go to a bar for service.
Becky was struggling with the heat and although we managed to grab a sofa there was no air con.
Our flight was then delayed as we got hotter and more irritable.
Finally boarding the plane allowed us to cool off and look forward to getting to our destination.
Becky’s parents met us at the busy airport and it took us a while to get back to theirs. Finally we arrived and sat outside to try & keep cool with a glass of champagne at around 2am.
